JX – There’s Nothing I Won’t Do

Posted in Exercise, Music, Running on May 19, 2011 by Sing When You're Running

All the way from 1996 (I know, it makes me feel old too), this is another great example of 90s dance music that’s great to run to. So upbeat, and so feelgood. All the better if you remember it from the 90s; this will definitely bring you back and keep you going. And if you’re not, well, this is what you missed. Jealous much?

Wretch 32 ft. Example – Unorthodox

I’ll be honest, I’m a bit torn with this one. I absolutely love the production. Really great catchy tune that will keep you going. Great to run to in the sun. And the rapping isn’t bad either. Example’s bits really annoy me though. He annoys me on most of his songs, but especially in this one! I haven’t decided whether or not he’s worth putting up with because the rest of the song is actually really good, but thought I should share it with you all anyway. I’ll let you make your own mind up.

Adele – Rolling in the Deep (Jamie xx Remix) ft. Childish Gambino

Posted in Exercise, Music, Running on May 15, 2011 by Sing When You're Running

I’m not even going to apologise for this. Like I said in the previous post, it’s great credit to the song that there are so many remixes of this made. I heard this Jamie xx remix a while ago, but it wasn’t one of my favourites. I quite like the backing track and the pace of it, but the arrangement of the chorus and a few other elements are a bit too mad for my liking. However, when you throw in Childish Gambino’s (excellent) rap, it becomes at least twice as good. Compliments the pace of the song brilliantly, and even on its own would have been a great rap. I’m really, really enjoying it.

Adele – Rolling in the Deep (Villa remix)

Posted in Exercise, Music, Running on May 15, 2011 by Sing When You're Running

I know I’ve posted a few remixes to this song before, but this is definitely worth a post. I suppose it’s testament to just how bloody good the song is that there are so many remixes out there. This one’s upbeat, a bit pacey, very, very feelgood, and loads of fun. Just what you’re after when you’re out running in nice weather!

DJ Fresh – Louder

Posted in Exercise, Music, Running on May 15, 2011 by Sing When You're Running

You know that new Lucozade Sport ad? Of course you do. I heard this on the TV and knew straight away it was something that I wanted to run to. It has a bit of everything. It’s a bit dancey, a bit singey, and a bit drum ‘n’ bassey. One of the top comments on the youtube page is ‘Like this if you think the DnB bit should be longer,’ and, not surprisingly, it has quite a few likes. I’m not usually a big fan of DnB, but I absolutely agree with that. I thought it could have kicked in around the two minute mark, and either gone on a bit longer, or had two different bits of it. But what the hell do I know? Having said that, the anticipation of it could keep you going a bit, and once it does kick in, my God it’s worth the wait! Unsurprisingly, there are a hell of a lot of remixes out there, and I haven’t bothered sifting through them all, but you might find a gem if you do. I’m happy enough with the radio edit. If you want the club mix (which isn’t a hell of a lot different to be completely honest) you can listen to it here.

Faithless – Music Matters (Axwell Remix)

I’m absolutely loving this! I would listen to quite a bit of Faithless when I’m out running, this this isn’t really typical Faithless. It’s still great though. Really easy to listen to, and the beat and rhythm of it is great. The slower, more easy-going Faithless bits are just as good as the upbeat, singing bits. I think they’ve got a great balance with this one. I’ll be listening to this one more often!

Nalin & Kane – Beachball

Wow. This one brings me back! I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it before (I’ve definitely mentioned it), but 90s dance music is absolutely brilliant to run/work out to. And this is one of the archetypal 90s dance songs. Really good fun, great pace, and it will take you back to your childhood. Providing you were a child in the early nineties. This is great!
